New stuff from Psychonavigation Records

Artist: The Living Room

Title: The Living Room

Released: July 8th, 2013

Label: Psychonavigation

Format: Digital

Genre: Ambient, melodic techno, downtempo, experimental

As summer rolls on, Psychonavigation prepares to release this digital album from this Orlando Voom project.  I was given a sneak peek at three tracks from the upcoming album and I can safely say that I still can’t’ find my head… it seems to have been lost in the ether.

This is a neat bridge between classic techno elements and ambient styles.  The track, “Keep On Rising” combines these two bits effortlessly, creating a dance friendly track that still allows you to chill.  It’s similar to some IDM releases I fancy and perhaps leaning on some early FSOL or Redeye and Orb influences.  It’s like Detroit’s techno got mixed up in a vat of chilled atmospheric grooves.  Can’t wait for the full album!

Title: That’s Thrift

Released: July 22nd, 2013

Label: Psychonavigation Records

Format: Digital

Genre:

This digital single comes your way soon, along with its accompanying album, “Picnics with Pylons.”  Here’ we get the original mix of the title track and a remix by Looper.

The original mix gives us the best synth pop, ambient, downtempo and trip hop have to offer.  It’s one astounding mixture that leaves one spellbound.  It’s fantastic.  The remix by Looper (Stuart David of Belle and Sebastian and his new band) gives this a more indie electro pop vibe.  It’s like an instrumental, more futuristic Ladytron track.  This version brings the melody and the harmonies to the forefront making it so unbelievably catchy that I can’t help but replay it over and over again.

Seriously great stuff.

About Nick H.

I'm a geek for music whether it be on vinyl, CD, 78 or whatever. My goal is to sniff out the greated music on Earth, specializing in the obscure. I make music myself as well, mostly ambient and sound collage (1 album out and a few remixes so far). I work full time as a professional mascot (it pays the pills) but will soon retire, i hope.
