Updates for Mid-October

At last, some music news and other stuff!

–          Fjords ii is a band from Munich, Germany, consisting of members Eduard Demacek and Alex Strazdins.  What makes this band interesting is their use of ukuleles and four string guitars to create sort of a surreal electronic infused indie rock sound.  I was excited just reading over its description and even more so when I got to hear it.  Check it out!  Also check out their home page: www.fjordsii.com

–          The ID are releasing some new tunes! A double single is set to come out on October 29th via iTunes.  Take a listen to the tunes here!   Check out their webpage!

–          Electrician has a new single out entitled “All is Lost in the Light.”  And the best part is, this electro folk project is on tour in November and December.  Check out the bandcamp to hear the new tracks and the Facebook for tour info.

–          Thomas Bryan Eaton has a single!  “Last June” is a blissful jazz/indie gem.  Like I’ve said before, we don’t get jazz or jazz infused music here at the blog often and it’s always good to hear!  Currently, he’s recording tunes for his upcoming album in Brooklyn.  Can’t wait to hear that!  If you scope out his bandcamp, you can also check out two other releases that I assure you, are awesome.  This single features two tracks: the title track and a great live acoustic version of a song that might appear on the album.  It’s great.

–          Gnar Tapes showcases their newest release, Keel Her!  It’s dreamy British bedroom pop with a stoned flare.  Gnar Tapes has a knack for finding interesting psyched-induced pop rock wildness and this would be no exception.  And it’s on cassette!  Huzzah!

–          Big Wave is BACK!  The wild buzzy twee group has returned after their awesomely fun debut EP “The Roots of Love (Come Tumbling Down),” with their new release, “Only You” as a 7 inch.  It’s coming your way via the label, Beautiful Strange on November 5th.  I’m pretty excited about it, and you should be too!

–          The #1s 7 inch!  This marks the first from the Cork-based label, Art For Blind.  The #1s are a band from Dublin, showering us with awesome melodic indie guitar driven rock.  As of late, there have been a great many bands coming from this area that have just blown me away and I’m glad this one has come into view.  Seriously, this is great.  Check it out!

About Nick H.

I'm a geek for music whether it be on vinyl, CD, 78 or whatever. My goal is to sniff out the greated music on Earth, specializing in the obscure. I make music myself as well, mostly ambient and sound collage (1 album out and a few remixes so far). I work full time as a professional mascot (it pays the pills) but will soon retire, i hope.
