Madeline gracefully reissues her release, “Slow Bang” on This Will Be Our Summer Records, alongside a sweet preorder package.  Go here for more details.  Upon hearing the news about this reissue, I have to admit that my ears pricked up.  One can never have enough music from Madeline.

The tracks are brilliantly written. They’re honest, poetic and hard to resist.  The sweet acoustic guitar makes for good company with Madeline’s vocals.  A few tracks get some multi-instrumentation, giving a more polyphonic feel (of sorts) and draws the listen in right away, often demanding a re-listen or two.  Tracks like “Sleeping Dogs” ”1982” and “The Demise of Madam Butterfly,” are amazing and highlight her knack for writing, singing and instrumentation.  If you didn’t get a chance to scope out this album when it was first released back in 2006, now would be a good time to grab it.

This is a dreamy record. The sound is a splendid balance between lo fi folk, expertly crafted acoustic folk and passionate songwriting. This is going to sound awesome on vinyl.  This showcases all that is wonderful about the folk music genre, allowing it not only to live on but to grow and be beautiful.  Really, what’s not to like here?  Fans of older folk and modern folk will not be disappointed.  Madeline is wonderfully unique and you’d be a fool if you didn’t check her out.  Go and enjoy now!

About Nick H.

I'm a geek for music whether it be on vinyl, CD, 78 or whatever. My goal is to sniff out the greated music on Earth, specializing in the obscure. I make music myself as well, mostly ambient and sound collage (1 album out and a few remixes so far). I work full time as a professional mascot (it pays the pills) but will soon retire, i hope.
