This band has a rich history. It shared members over the years from bands like SUN 0))) and Mount Eerie, and have toured with the likes of Sleater Kinney, The Lucksmiths and the Mountain Goats. After reading their bio, I’m finding there’s plenty to like about them. So what exactly do they sound like?
First impressions are everything, some folks say. The first track (the title piece), blew me away. The indie vibe is so strong, it’s almost religious. The lyrics are brilliantly constructed, conversational and captivating. Track two is similar in style; I’m hungry for more. The third track, “Blood Brothers,” has a beautiful guitar and bass section. The lyrics are in your face and have a point to make. Clyde Peterson has an amazing knack for song writing, giving the underdog a voice and eagerly throwing the cud back at the world. I am loving this.
Again and again, track after track, Clyde’s talent shines through. Combine this with the flawless indie-pop instrumentation, and you have yourself an awesome record. The songs span the spheres of politics, friendships and life in general. I can’t help but love this. It’s insanely relatable and otherwise just plain awesome.
Stand out tracks might include: 24th and Mission, Blood Brothers, Late Night Ride, and Troubled Sleep. Honestly though, there’s not a single lowlight on this album. Through and through, this is solid and very strong. Every song is crafted with a sense that it’s the last song ever to be played and they make it powerful and unforgettable. The messages are pure and true. I both love and respect this album.
Should you buy this? Hell yeah! It’s both awesome in tis respective genres and powerful in its messages. This is a record that needs to be heard. Awesome.
